Born and raised in Utah, went to college in Las Vegas, and graduated with high honors. I love all things design even if it’s taken me a while to figure it out. I used to think Computer Science was the career for me even after I spent most of my younger years doodling and creating logos for everything. It finally clicked. Design was the path for me when I realized I needed to find something I loved doing. Luckily for me I had a boss who was a graphic designer on the side and encouraged me to download Illustrator and Photoshop trials and play around with them. I was instantly hooked and knew I’d found what I wanted to do with the rest of my life. I spent the next few years going to school and learning everything I possibly could about design. I landed my first design job at a dental manufacturing company called Ultradent Products, Inc. as a web designer. I spent most of my time designing/coding landing pages, emails and banners for their website.
When I’m not designing I spend my time with my kids or redesigning my wife’s website. I really enjoy photography, but rarely find the time to practice. I enjoy going to movies, usually anything by Marvel, Christopher Nolan, or JJ Abrams. I also am an avid runner, an unofficial evangelist for Apple, and I wear red chucks.
You can get in touch with me via email or Twitter
Since I’m a web designer, this is probably my 4th or 5th version of this page. All of the HTML and CSS was hand-coded with CSS Grid in vs code. It runs on bootstrap. All the graphics were created in either Photoshop or Illustrator.
Here’s a look at the tools I use the most when working on my various projects.
Adobe Creative Cloud for all my designing and creating of stuff. While I’m not a fan of their new subscription based payment plan (I think it makes the product more unstable) I use it at work, and until there is a better alternative it will be what I use.
I'm currently using Figma, I'm really enjoying how fast it is and the collaboration potential. In the past I've used Adobe XD, and Sketch.
For my coding needs I currently use VS Code, it’s free and it’s a great app.
For emails I use Litmus for testing, I use Act-On at work, and help my wife with her newsletter at MailChimp.
Other utilities I use most are, Apple Notes to keep all my thoughts organized and connected across all my devices without having to pay monthly. I use Rescue Time to track my productivity level, 1Password for all my passwords, and DayOne for any random thoughts or experiences I want to remember.
I also track my health pretty religiously and use gyrosco.pe app to do that. The apps I use to track my health are, Strava for running, It works great with my Nike+ Apple Watch. I use Withings Body Cardio to track my weight and blood pressure. I use myfitnesspal to track my calorie intake.
For hardware, I use a MacBook Pro. I don’t go anywhere without my iPhone or Apple Watch, and usually my iPad Pro isn’t far away.
